2017 (Bad Elephant Music) - Stil: Progressive Rock

VALDEZ is a new Prog-Quartet from Philadelphia, which is made up of not quite unknown musicians. VALDEZ was created by ECHOLYN-bassist Thomas Hyatt and ex-TINYFISH singer/guitarist Simon Godfrey, who moved to America in 2014 and lives there with his wife. The group complete keyboardist Joe Cardillo (COLD BLUE ELECTRIC) and drummer Scott Miller (STONE JACK BALLER). Produced, as well as some guitars, the debut Brett Kull, also a member of ECHOLYN.

'This' involved, of course, the musical genes of the musicians here. The singing of Simon Godfrey is fantastic and is often driven by harmonious chants together with Joe and Thomas in the brilliance. Especially in the titlesong very excellent to listen. Thus VALDEZ merge the lightness of the 60s with the progressiveness of the 70s and prepare together a gourmet meal in the group-organization, which they present with immense casualness. If the listener hear just a few seconds of the song 'No Stone Unturned' the headline "I'm easy like Sunday morning" is drawn through the head, it is only the laid back mood of the work. However, songs like the song 'Black Eyed Susans' are strikingly and quickly revolting in opposite.

Who can fancy a fictive union of ECHOLYN, SUPERTRAMP and STEELY DAN in the farthest sense, must hear 'This' from VALDEZ.
